Commonly Under-Diagnosed. Often Overlooked.
Low thyroid function affects a significant share of the population and is frequently under-diagnosed. Most practitioners rely on lab values, but hypothyroidism is a clinical diagnosis based on symptoms.
Untreated, it can contribute to decreased bone density, weight gain, elevated cholesterol, depression, fatigue, constipation, hair loss, low energy, and more.
Testing That Tells the Whole Story.
A proper evaluation includes at least TSH, Free T3, and Free T4 — and sometimes reverse-T3, anti-thyroglobulin, and anti-TPO. Adrenal (cortisol) function matters too, since it interacts with thyroid health.
Much of the hormone the thyroid secretes is T4, which must convert to active T3. That conversion isn't always optimal, which is why T4-only medication can incompletely treat thyroid dysfunction. We restore the natural T3/T4 balance.
